What Is Hot Yoga?

Hot yoga is a form of yoga that is practiced in a heated room. Typically, the room temperature is anywhere from 85–105 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat can help increase flexibility and elasticity, aid in detoxification, increase the cardio output during a yoga class and promote deep relaxation.

What Should I Wear to Yoga Classes?

Comfortable and breathable clothing is recommended for hot yoga classes. Choose clothing that allows you to move freely without restriction and that is moisture wicking. Avoid clothing that is too loose or too tight. Many people prefer to wear yoga-specific clothing, such as sports bras and tanks, leggings or shorts, as they are designed to be comfortable and stretchy.

How Is Bikram Yoga Different From Hot Yoga?

Bikram yoga is a type of hot yoga that was developed by Bikram Choudhury. It consists of a set sequence of 26 postures and two breathing exercises and is practiced in a heated room that is more than 100 degree. Bikram yoga is known for its challenging nature and the physical and mental benefits it provides with the very set sequence. Our other hot yoga classes, however, are a changing sequence and each class you attend will have different poses and flows from the previous session. This is great because you can try new things and will always be surprised on your mat! Both practices are great and a lot of people enjoy the combination of doing Bikram a few times a week as well as other hot yoga classes mixed in.

Do I Need To Be Flexible To Do Yoga?

No, you do not need to be flexible to do yoga. In fact, one of the benefits of practicing yoga is that it will help increase flexibility over time. Yoga is a practice that is adaptable to all levels, and modifications can be made to poses to make them more accessible for beginners. The increased flexibility is also a great way to prevent injury and stay balance for anyone who works out regular (athletes, runners, etc). So if you aren't flexible but with you were, The Hot Yoga Spot is definitely for you!
