7-Day Yoga Challenge for a Healthier, Calmer Week

Spring is upon us, and with the craziness that has come with COVID-19 over the last few years, it can be easy to feel lost and unsure of the future holds. That is why we decided to center today’s post on tips for creating a simple and effective 7-day wellness and yoga challenge that you can continue using for weeks afterward to further your practice, relax your body and mind, and feel better knowing that you are committing to a plan that is beneficial to your health during an unusually stressful time.

Tip #1: Set Goals

Having goals in mind for your 7-day challenge will help to keep you motivated throughout the week and give you something to strive for. Whether your goal is to simply commit to getting on your mat and doing a few simple moves for the next seven days or to master a pose you have been practicing, goal setting is an excellent way to make this challenge feel exciting and worth it.

Tip #2: Do it With a Friend

While many people love practicing yoga on their own and consider it to be some “me” time, starting a 7-day yoga challenge can be easier to commit to when you have the accountability of a friend who you can check in with. Not only are they available for accountability, but it can be a great way to further your practice by learning more about what they experience during their yoga sessions as well. Plus, it’s fun to tell others how much more open your hips feel or how much longer you help a plank when you aren’t in your usual yoga studio! It is also a great way to connect with friends you don't see as much and get to do class together for the week! You can even grab healthy food with them after class or go for a nice walk to keep the fun going.

Tip #3: Celebrate Each Win!

Simply getting on your mat if you have been away for a while is something to celebrate! You are making steps in a healthy direction, and your body and mind will thank you for that in the long run. Being able to feel your stretches deepen and your body move in new ways that you weren’t able to do before is worthy of celebration, and don’t forget to trust the journey to get you to your larger yoga and wellness goals in the future.

Tip #4: Track Your Daily Practice

While it can be easy to remember what yoga classes you have taken or which new pose you were able to accomplish in the beginning, it can become a blur after a few days or weeks. Grab a notebook and mark your progress each day by writing down what you did, where you noticed improvements in yourself, and what your goals are for the following day. Just think about how exciting it will be to look back and see the progress you’ve made over the course of a week! Not only is it an accomplishing feeling, but it can also help you to get back on your mat for another week and beyond.
